TTAG committee members visited Grand Valley on June 11 to complete Thamesford's initial phase of the First Impressions Community Exchange Program promoted by OMAFRA.

Grand Valley residents visited Thamesford during the summer of 2008.

Both groups will summarize their impressions within a PowerPoint format and present the finding to their opposite group sometime in September 2008.

Sept 16 - Members of the Thamesford First Impressions committee drove to Grand Valley and gave their presentation to
residents of Grand Valley. By all accounts it was well received.
The PowerPoint presentation was created by members of TTAG First Impressions committee using the OMAFRA
model. We had a lot of help preparing the powerpoint presentation from Jen Storey, Andrea Clark and John Parsons.
             Thank you.

Sept 29 - 7pm at the Thamesford arena
Members of the Grand Valley First Impressions group presented their First Impressions of Thamesford to TTAG.
This was a very informative meeting with many excellant suggestions, questions and answers.
The meeting was attended by approximately 50 community residents, representing TTAG, TBA, Lions, elected officials
             and interested area residents.

USING FIRST IMPRESSIONS FOR COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION
First Impressions Community Exchange is a structured process that reveals the first impression a community conveys to outsiders, including tourists, potential investors and retirees. It offers a fresh perspective on the community’s appearance, services and infrastructure and helps communities learn about their strengths and shortcomings.
Volunteer “visiting teams” from two exchange communities do unannounced, incognito visits, record their observations, and give constructive feedback to their exchange community. The knowledge gained through a First Impressions Community Exchange can be the basis for positive community action, focused on downtown revitalization, tourism development, investment attraction, quality service improvement, or broader community strategic planning efforts.
